Does a laptop post without a GPU?

Im trying an mxm gpu 8600MGT for my acer 4520G w/c original gpu is 8400M G, the problem is that the laptop wont even post, the 8600M GT is for asus c90s, vbios is different from acer aspire i was hoping it would still boot so i can blind flash it, but it keeps on restarting every 8seconds.
anyway i can flash the bios? anyway to modify my sbios to post even if vbios does not match?
