My friend has an Award v6.00 KT133 Chipset (6A6LM) VIA VT8363 system controller(north bridge) VIA 686A(supersouth). The manufacturer is DFI.

After I reload everything due to the CIH virus the audio and video is causing a hard freeze.

DFI's website says about the virus:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
" If your system is infected by the CIH computer virus where the system BIOS may have been corrupted, you must:

Perform the Clear CMOS (BIOS) operation. (please refer to the user manual on how to perform this operation.)

Please contact your local vendor/reseller on how to obtain a new BIOS EEPROM chip to restore your system. "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

REALLY? Does anyone think I really need to get a new chip? I may ignorant here but it seems like a software virus couldn't affect your hardware to the point you had to get it replaced.

<insert suck up statement here>THANKS IN ADVANCE....ANYONE WHO KNOWS THIS MUCH ABOUT BIOS AND WILLING TO SHARE THEIR KNOWLEDGE FOR FREE IS GOING BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY. :) </suck>

The CIH virus can kill the BIOS by erasing part of boot block on some boards. It can be fixed by hot-flashing the chip in another board. If the board boots, the BIOS is OK.
Get the latest VIA 4-in-1 pack and also the latest drivers for audio and graphics card.
