Need hard to find BIOS upgrade...

I'm trying to install a 60GB hard drive and it hangs up at the start. I know there may be other things wrong, but I've tried almost everything else. I seem to be ok when I reinstall my old hard drive (lucky I saved it).

Anyways, I was told a BIOS upgrade may help. I'm looking for the upgrade to my Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGN, 04/27/2000-693-596-w977-2A6LGF9DC-00. I found out that it's VIA Apollo Pro Plus (692/596) chipset, and Fordilan is the mfg. It seems that the company is out of business and there is no way for me to find out how to upgrade my BIOS.

ANY help would be appreciated. I'm pretty much stuck until I try this route.

Thanks in advance.

Your BIOS is new enough to actually support HDDs upto 128GB (guaranteed upto 64GB).
All of the "F9" (vendor code) boards I've encountered have a model number printed on them (either silkscreened or on a sticker).

Careful. Very tricky board. There are two subrevisions of V1.2, namely V1.2W and V1.2I, the sole difference being the clockgen chip. One's ICS and the other is Winbond.
Check your BIOS message for:

FOR 6XV93A PCI/ISA/AGP MODE VER:1.2W
or
FOR 6XV93A AGP/PCI/ISA MODE VER:1.2I

(note the W or I).
