Hi,

I have 4 MSI - MS6178 motherboards that currently have the shipping version of their AMI Bios. Unfortunatly MSI have not updated this bios, but they have updated an Award version for this motherboard and this provides greater cpu support.

Is it possible to physicaly replace the amibios with an award bios? Or even better can you overwrite an amibios with an award bios (somehow I doubt this more conveniant option)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's possible to flash the Award BIOS over the AMI - but it's at your own risk. Try AMIFlash, Awdflash or UniFlash.

Please use only one Board to test the Award Bios
AMI Bios on a MSI Board and MSI offers only Award Bios suggest an OEM-Version of the Board

hmmmm,

cheers for that as well Denniss. I have a Tiny set of boards. Any experience with them? Oh don't worry I shall only try on the one.
