Is this a BIOS issue

I'm a newbie seeking help for the first time so please be gentle

I had been running XP pro with great stability for a number of months - I decided however to move to XP home and SP1 . And then my problems begin

Since installing I experience numerous system freezes when trying to play games . In event viewer the culprit seems to be ACPI errors . The games seem to hang when accessing the hard drive . Running DXdiagnostics everything is fine with graphics and sound . And I have checked my Seagate drive with Seagates own tools and it says that everything is OK

Is it a bios issue ? - My Bios date is 10/4/2000 and the number is 6A6LM J19C 00

I cant find any info on this bios - help much appreciated

Cheers

Hi Fred
Please provide the full BIOS ID string and also the BIOS OEM message in the top left of the memory count screen under the Award logo. At the moment all I can say is that it's probably a Jetway board with a VIA KT133 chipset.

I was thinking of something along the lines of "V.663AS/663ASPRO A03 10-04-2000"
It looks like a Jetway 663AS of some type, as inhttp://www.wimsbios.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14. The version 15 BIOS for ASA and ASA Plus (not ASA Ultra) is at http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/download ... 3asA15.BIN
