Thanks for the email

The information of the board is as follows:

Award modular bios V4.51PG
04/22/98-i440BX-977TF-ATC-6220C-00
ATC-6220 VER: 1.0 03 WB
OEM: ??
Chipset: i440BX

I am trying to upgrade it to the V2 bios using Award Flash V7.52c and bios file 6220118A.BIN using the /py option

I get this message "the file size does not match"

Any ideas how to solve this problem

Save your current BIOS to file. What size is it?
What size is the new BIOS?

The size of the Bios files are:

The current V1 Bios is 128kb
the v2 bios I am trying to upgrade to is 256kb

As my granny didn't used to say, "you can't fit 1.1366l into a 0.5683l pot". The latest BIOS I can find for 1 Mbit (128 Kbyte) is 1.09a. This supports big HDDs.

Thanks for that

can you please let me know where to find the v1.09 bios

also is it feasable to replace the award bios chip with a larger capacity one which would allow upgrade to the larger v2 bios file

Thanks for that I am now using bios v1.09.

Can anyone tell me if the ATC-6220 V1.09 Bios supports extra memory or faster processors to the v1 bios, or does it just offer support for larger hard disks.

Also is it possible for me to put a larger capacity bios on my m/board so that I could load the v2 bios, if so any ideas where I could purchase one from.

Personally, I don't know which flash ROM device the 2Mbit BIOS supports. If it isn't pre-programmed you will need to have it programmed or use the "hot-flash" technique (see the main site FAQ, or http://www.pppr.sk/rainbow/hardware/hotflash.html or the illustrated guide at the VIAarena) so you may consider buying from one of the suppliers of pre-programmed devices. However, note that modifications to the PCB might be required to support some of the newer processors; I don't know whether the PCB revision changed.
