aside from trying to identify my mobo, so as to zero in on the correct bios update...
i was surprised to be told by esupport(sent to them by american megatrends inc) wanted me to pay 75$american for a new this standard?

I has thought that upgrades of the firmware type(unless they were talking of sending a whole new 'chip") were distributed as needed?

would be nice to for that cost, (in canadian dolloars) i can purchase a whole new mobo here!!!1

auggg! would lose my old dbl-sided ram i bought for me old mobo though...great!

any ideas?

eSupport charges for tailor-making a BIOS for you.

The free BIOS updates are those provided by the motherboard manufacturers.

Why don't you tell us what board you have? We might find some "free" goodies for you :)

i just found out that my mobo was made by asus model asus k7m!!

i've found the bios upgrade too... now just gotta make the bootable floppy
and get up the courage to flash my bios.. :) have to admit....feels kinda scary to be doing this... as a lot of the 'warnings' about using the 'wrong' type and all... scary consequences.. :)

hopefully i'll be able to do it right the 1st time...

thanx for the imput folks... i guess thats why they were so 'abrupt' with me on the phone... guess i was talking to a 'sales' guy...(on commision? hehe)
