How To Upgrade BIOS:
1. Make a bootable system floppy disk.
(you can use this program http://www.abitfaq.it/Files/drdflash.exe to create a DR-DOS boot diskette)

2. Download the BIOS file from MSI web page.
You did this.

3. Extract the BIOS file into the bootable floppy.
Extract the files from the .ZIP to the bootable floppy.

4. Boot up system with the bootable floppy disk.
Boot up system with the bootable floppy disk.
At this point the autoexec.bat should flash the BIOS with the command:
A:\AWFL789 w6339ims.140 /SN /PY /CC /R /LD

5. Run Award (Ex. Awdfl770) or AMI (Ex. amifl822.exe) Flash utility & follow the on-screen instructions.
This should happen automatically.

6. After flashing the BIOS, reboot system, press [DEL] to go into BIOS setup.
7. Select [Load Setup Default] for or [Load Optimized Defaults] and press Key [Enter] and
press Key [Y].
8. Press Key [F10] than answer [Y] to reboot system again and finish upgrade procedure.
Those look straight-forward; do you have a problem with any of them ?

Here is the manual:
http://www.msi-computer.de/download/dok ... ng_pdf.zip
Check section 4, under Advanced BIOS Features there is a mention of BIOS Flash Write Control.
