unfortunately, I got a 40GB harddisk , but my bios only support 32GB.
so I want to upgrade my bios. But, my motherboard provider dont' provide
any newer bios. So what can i do?
my bios' infomation:
Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 1.5
BIOS Date: 06/19/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 06/19/1998-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LESM9C
BIOS Eval: V586A VER:A.4
Chipset: VIA 82C597 rev 1
Superio: Winbond 877TF (use 87h) rev 0 found at port 3F0h
Could I use other motherboard's bios? And I find this one:
P55-VP3, VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEPA9C-00
may I upgrade my bios using this bios?
thank for ur help!

Generally its not adviseable to use another bios from the a different computer even though it made by the same company. You could always try to flash another chip and keep the orginal as a backup. But your best bet is to install a EIDIE card with onboard bios.

Just FYI, there's a beta BIOS:
09/11/1998-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LESM9C-00
But it still won't support HDDs > 32GB.

It's SuperPower V586A board - you're right, you have the latest BIOS. I'm developing a program that can fix the 32GB bug in existing BIOS (see in the In-Depth BIOS section). I can send you the modified BIOS if you want to try it (at your own risk of course, but I think that it's less risky than flashing BIOS from another board).

thansk for ur patched bios bin, and I flash it with it , now my bios can recognized it correctly, and my win2k work well. But My linux box can only recognized 32G, so I still use Maxtro's Maxblast in my mbr.
I think maybe I should repartition my harddisk, so that linux box can recognized it correct...

Backup data, do FDISK /MBR, delete all partitions and recreate again. It should work.
