Last Thursday I flashed my "Acorp" 6VIA81P comp with biosfile which I've got via email from a friend. I use biosfile version "B" (original with the mainboard's manufacturer), flashed BIOS with biosfile version "D" and...
my system-win95 R2 crushed!
At the screnn, after right detecting hdd&others, was many "DOS_characters" with info: MSDOS.SYS failed..!
Fortunatelly, I made boot disk with uniflash&old biosfile and flashed again that mainboard with.
Now boot system OK, but what was the reason for that crush..?
Be carefull for 6VIA81P v.D biosfile!

Motherboards may have several revisions. The letter "D" may be a hardware revision, and not necessarily a BIOS update.

I made the same update as Tomasz some time ago. No problems at all (IIRC it needed CMOS clearing). Just the Phoenix full-screen logo was stupid IMHO. There's also ver. C, you can try this one if you need to update the BIOS.
