1. What is the release date and BIOS id string of your current BIOS?
2. What is the release date of your new BIOS?
3. Did you enable BIOS flashing in your CMOS setup?

Note - "4.51 PG" won't change; just the release date.

can anyone give me a link to a nice old version (5.00 would apparently work) of AWDFLASH.EXE ? The one on this website doesn't work :(

could you give us the complete string of what is currently flashed on your system so we can check if you don't already have the latest version available?

sure ok:

05/07/1999-i440BX-ITE867-2A69KV3IC-00
BIOS-I-2M (90507A)
Award Modular Bios v4.51PG

is one of those what you are looking for?

Yep the first one.

This means you have a PcPartner/Vtech board, we need two more things.

1. a 35-8xxx-xx number printed on the top surface of your board, it can be in fine print and is usually found near the CPU slot/socket

2. The brand of your clock generator IC which can be ICW or Winbond. It is one of the smaller chips on your motherboard.

ICW should have W144 somewhere
Winbond should have W83194R-39A somewhere.

Once we have this information we can point you to the right variant of the bios. There are three for this particular bios.

35-8839-03
and its the Winbond one

I saw that W.........-39.

download location:
http://www.pcpartner.com.hk/bios/i440.htm

BXA839D, the 2K001120 variant.

once you have downloaded the zip file and unpacked it, there's a note.txt file which tells you to use the B1120IAG.BIN

i know, I flashed that file, but my BIOS doesn't change! :(((((

the flasher goes through all steps successfully, no errors anywhere, but upon resetting the machine, my old 05/07/1999 BIOS still remains!
