Command Specific Guidance....

:?: All - I'm a novice looking for a little guidance with regards to flashing my bios. I've reviewed your FAQ and have a question or two on key stroke specifics.

I have an Abit BX6 rev 2 MB. I've downloaded the latest bios, bxrqr.exe (for large HHD support) and the Award flash utility. I made a boot disk with system files on floppy as well as flash utility and bios. Both the flash and bios are .exe and not .bin , how exactly do I start the flash process once I boot from the A? Do I type "awdflash bxrqr" or just
"awdflash" then the flash utility will extract the bios .exe file from the floppy??

Sorry to ask what I'm sure is a VERY simple procedure, but I just want to
get it right. I've heard and read TOO many horror stories of bios flashing gone bad... I want to get it right. Thanks all.

The file you downloaded from Abit contain file(s) zipped into it. Run the File and Extract them to the floppy along with the flash program.

Thanks Junkie! However, I'm still kind of unsure how to proceed
once everything is "unzipped" to a floopy? How do I start the flash
process? What are the key strokes? Thanks!

Make a Windows 98/Me bootable floppy. If you don't have one, you can download one here
Download the files
Double click on bxrqr.exe
It will either just extract the files or ask you where you want to put them.
Either way get it onto the floppy.
Copy the flash program

Restart, it should boot from the floppy
Run the flash program and it should prompt for the filename of the BIOS file (or it'll tell you the usage for the program).
Follow the onscreen instructions from there.
