Need help finding update

I am upgrading from windows 98 to XP home version. Install stopped because bios needs to be updated. Current bios is phoenix 4.o ver 6.0c. When i go to phoenix website it says to go to manufacturer website. I have an HP pavilion 8660C - when I go onto the hp website and follow direcitons for bios upgrade, it states that i don't need an upgrade at this time. . Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Disable power management in BIOS right before upgrading.

I'm sorry - this may be a simple question, but could you please give me the steps to disable the power management in BIOS, I am unfamiliar. I appreciate your assistance.

In BIOS, you'll find a submenu that'll say "POWER SETTINGS" or "POWER MANAGEMENT" or whatever as intuitive as possible.
The typical settings would be ENABLED, DISABLED, USER-DEFINED, etc.
Just set it to DISABLED, save and exit, reboot, and then try reinstalling the XP Home upgrade.
