Bios update, help gratefully recieved!!

Hiya guys.
I have searched everywhere for a bios update for an EI Systems Laptop model number 4411.
My bios number is 63-0100-000001-00101111-092603-i845G 1ABHI016
Trouble is the moment i am at work and i cant download any tools for detecting my motherboard. Running the Everest program (formally Aida32) gave me the name of Intel Brookdale-G, but have got nowhere with that info.
I have changed the celeron 2.4 chip for a P4 2.4 chip, the L2 cache has quadrupled(good
) and bandwidth, but the bus speed and bandwidth of my 3200 ddr ram has dropped to 100Mhz/1600MB/s 
.
So I thought a bios update is needed as it's nearly 2yrs old, am i right in thinking that?????
Please help a PC novice!!!

p.s I have found esupport.com, but they want $30 for the update, is that the going rate????
