Did Acer's v58xa motherboard ever really exist?

For the last week I have been on an odyssee searching for a bios upgrade for the ACER v58xa motherboard. A friend gave me an Socket 7 IBM aptiva 2137-E16, and I am trying to breath new life into it. I plan to upgrade it to an an AMD K63 (or K63+ if I can get away with it) and I think I need to update the 12/15/97 BIOS before I try. There is a relevant string in a different forum by kp6286 that ended on 8/10/2004 with a jumper-based solution. But Kp6286 says he too searched far and wide and couldn't find the update. I know there was a release of a 1999 update b/c Don5408's aptiva site says so and gives the IBM file link (http://members.aol.com/sentinel84/uas/bios/). The link from there to IBM (now Lenovo) is dead. The regular Acer site has nothing. The acer archive site (http://assist.acer.com/public/system/91 ... m#Articles shows that there were four acer models that used the same board (1833, 1840, 1845 & 1845r) but no google success with them either. Struck out at driversguide.com too. My guess is that Acer and IBM took down the update b/c they are in the business of selling new computers/MOBO's -- not the business of helping socket 7 fans, but it can't be that the bios update has been wiped from all of cyberspace. That's not possible, IS IT? javascript:emoticon('8O')
