My problem is as follows:
I bought a new CD-Rom device (Lite-On) and connected it with my computer. When I turn on the computer, I see the type of processor, the memory is being checked, it writes the neme of HDD, it writes the model of CD-rom device (LTN-483L) and it stops. I can go into BIOS but the OS won't boot. If I unpllug the CD-rom everything works. Everything works fine with my old 8xspeed NEC CD-rom device. What is the problem? I wanted to Flash BIOS but I'm not shure what is the name of BIOS flash file. All I could find was Flash file named GA586ATV3/4. Could you help me?
Here is the mother board type again:
GA-586ATV 2A59GG0AC-00 intel 430VX 3PCI 2ISA 4SIMM UMC8669
I'm looking for your fast reply,
Thanks

Do you have the master/slave jumpers set correctly? Post full BIOS ID string.

Well definately check the Master Slave relations, also if the cable is twisted (Red line to Pin1). Its also possible the CDROM could be bad.
