Insufficient Memory

Hi,

I've just tried to updated my bios with Award 6147v18x from the rainbow site. But near the end of the update I get the error message Insufficient Memory.

Mobo is a MSI6147 with bios W6147 v18, the latest from MSI, but it still did not recognise the new WD 40GB hard drive. So that's why I'm now trying the above update.

Any advise?

Thanks

I think I may of found the answer. Found on http://www.wimsbios.com/HTML1/faq.html#q7

1. In CMOS Chipset Features Setup, disable every form of caching and shadowing you can find, ie: Video Bios Cacheable. Save and exit.
2. Reboot and hit Ctrl+F5,when you see "Windows Starting" (This temporarily prevents Drvspace.bin from loading-making 108K more Memory available.)
3. Award 7.x flashers now have a switch /tiny . If you use that switch (eg awd7xx /tiny newbios.bin) the Award flasher will need less free memory

I'll give it a try, but any other advise would be grateful.

Thanks

Also use the DR DOS BIOS Flash Boot Disk to boot directly to a configuration which maximises the amount of memory available to the flash program.

I have also come to prefer UniFlash over AWDFLASH.
