not able to set my bios date and time

Today i updated my bios( ASUS P4P800 VM) after which i am not able to set the system date of time. when i star the comp it shows "bios error", "bios date and time not set" after which i enter the bios and set the date and time then save and exit. after restarting the same problem remains when i go into the bios and check the date and time it is not saved. what could be the problem????
after which i thought it might be because of the bios update so i downloded a new update and put in the bios but the same problem persists
