I have just joined this forum today.

I honestly tried to figure out the codes etc., but I'm still confused.

I have a pIII with the following BIOS.

BIOS Id : 03/23/1999-i440BX-W997-2A69KG0AC-00
BIOS Ver : v4.51PG

Motherboard is Gigabyte.

I have had problems in installing a 40Gb harddisk, and lately when I tried to install Win XP, I got the msg that the BIOS wasn't fully ACPI compliant.

I think I need to update my BIOS. Please help me in locating a suitable update.

I can send more details if required.

Probably a Gigabyte GA-6BA. Please verify with marking onto your board, usually between the PCI slots. Then visit www.gigabyte.com.tw and get the latest Bios.
