Gigabyte GA-6VXDC7 v1.0 Mobo

I have a matched pair of 1000/256/133 coppermines in this board.
The most up to date BIOS has been patched, v F7B
When I enter the BIOS and review the CPU temperatures,
CPU 1 at 39 degrees C and CPU 2 at 51 degrees C.
Both the fans spin at approx. 5200 rpm - so states the BIOS.
Is the reading for CPU 2 spurious or do I have a problem?
Any help appreciated

Swap both CPUs (CPU1 in CPU2 and vice versa), if temps are now also exchanged then one of your CPUs has a problem or the cooler is not seated properly. If the temps do not move with the CPU then your Bios may have a problem or the temp sensor (if external) does not work correctly.

I found adjacent to CPU2 a small capacitor which slightly elevated
the HSF by just enough to probably be indicative of the temp differential.
In fact, given the location of this cap, it is bad design.
I anticipate I have not damaged the cap but may in any event,
substitute it for an equivalent with smaller height form factor if I can get
one.
Alternatively, I might rework the new cap with extra length on the
tails and glue it down in a safe place as where it is presently adjacent
to the HSF will probably heat it beyond its thermal threshold under
heavy load.
I should have checked it anyway first time around - thanks for the
advice. Of course, I will have to be mindful of noise as it is the location
of the regulator. There is always the rear of the board of course!
Will give it a quick power up to see if resolved the issue
