Hello!

I have the Aopen MP915-B MiniPC which uses the Phoenix AwardBIOS v6.

If the power is cut 100% from the computer I have to press F1 the next time it's plugged in. This is an issue because I'd like to install it in my car.

I am trying to see if there is a way to bypass the: Checksum Error: Defaults loaded (which requires F1 to continue). Due to the battery issue, when I select the Halt On (no errors) option, it doesn't save. I was hoping to build a bios with this as the default option, then flash it.

Is there a bios builder/mod that will allow me to set the default Halt On - No Errors? I don't see it in either modbin6 or awdbedit.

Any help is appreciated, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure which one seemed the best.

The actual bios file name is Aopen MP915-B Bios R1.08TB (bios image below for reference)

what about replacing the battery?

Sorry, I changed my first post so many times to make it more clear, that I left that out.

It's not the battery, it's the battery holder.

Time for a soldering iron and a replacement battery holder then I guess.

So does that confirm that there is no way to rebuild/mod the bios with it as default, then flash it? (it being halt on no errors)

there is..please post a direct link to the bios and i'll take a look.
but honestly i don't really see the point as the bios might store important information like the boot drive or the attached drives in general.

As it stands, nothing can be stored due to the battery issue, so that shouldn't be taken into consideration right?

the option is available (with suboption No Errors) even in the standard bios provided by aopen.
take a look at the bottom of the page Standard CMOS Features.

I found that in the normal bios, but when I go to set it, the setting resets. This is due to the bad cmos battery holder.

When I popped the bios into modbinv6, I couldn't make it the default setting.

So I was reaching out to this community to see if there was a way to make it the default setting in a downloaded bios, then flash that bios to the board. That way, upon power loss, it won't reset due to it being the true default setting.

The whole issue here is the lack of stored settings due to a bad battery holder, and is the reason I'm trying to force the default option.

I fear it simply won't work. I have asked for something like this about 7 or 8 years ago to AMI and Award. The idea is, once the cmos battery goes bad, you need to take action. No way around it, so I fear it's time to test your soldering skills...

It shouldn't be too hard to just tack solder some wires onto the old battery clip...and add an external battery holder.
