Problem with updating BIOS on Intel CA810

I have IBM 300GL computer with model name 6288-11G. CPU is Celeron 433MHz.
I upadated bios with the one I found here.

But with this bios Pentium III doesn't work. It should work with this motherboard, at least this site says so.

I tried to upgrade bios with this one, but I receive error "This system does not support flash memory."

esupport.com says there is bios update for this computer, but, for $30.

Is there any way I can update bios so that P3 would work? Maybe with awd flasher or something similar?

did you check the AA number?
The following board revisions (AA numbers) support these processors:

A09251-300 or later
A09253-300 or later.

I found "Intel CA810" inscription, but I didn't see any AA number. I looked all over the board though.

you can use cpu-z to read out the AA number

cpu-z shows only this:

Chipset: Intel i810 Rev. A2
s-bridge: Intel 82801AA (ICH)
LPCIO: SMSC

this is what i found searching the web..

maybe the mainboard's bios isn't orignal intel anymore?
if the Pentium III isn't working as intended i suspect the board to be an earlier revision.

mine information:

info from esupport:
Chipset: INTEL WHITNEY 82810-DC100 REV 2
Super I/O: SMC LPC47B37X REV 1 AT PORT 002E

bios is the one I found on Lenovo's website.
since there is no AA number in my case, I suppose the motherboard is too old.
but, from "-DC100" I deduct that FSB100 is supported? the P3 that I have is FSB100 (SL4Z2). what is the best CPU that this motherboard accepts then?

It looks like your Bios is too old to support your CPU. It often happens with Intel boards, if they don't know your CPU they refuse to boot.

http://processorfinder.intel.com/detail ... Spec=SL4Z2

Your CPU is of the last generation Pentium III Coppermines (cD0 step), an earlier revision might work or not.
