Right i used the bios program that comes with the motherboard drivers to flash my bios chip from the internet, i choose the one i thought was right out of the two it showed on there.

Now i have a monitor that stays in standbye, cdrom and cdrw do access but my floppy drive does not, also there is power to the LEDS on my geforce card and the processor fan is working.

Anyway out of this without taking out my chip or sending it off to be fixed.

I've tried things like clearing the cmos, taking out the battery and setting the bios to recovery with no joy.

See FAQ about recovering badly flashed AMI BIOS. Get correct BIOS at http://www.giga-byte.com/support/intel850.htm#link8tx. Unzuip it. Format a blank floppy. Rename 8TX.F8 file to AMIBOOT.ROM and put it on the floppy. Put the floppy in drive and power up while holding Ctrl+Home keys. The board should read the file and flash it automatically (it can take some minutes).

small problem i tried that but there doesn't seem to be any power to my keyboard?

Do you have USB or PS/2 keyboard?

I have a microsoft natural ps/2 keyboard.

Hmm sounds complicated and i haven't a soldering iron, think i'll try and buy a new board that will be easier.

On this picture, the board has DualBIOS. And both chips in sockets.

If only mine had the backup bios chip feature i would of been saved, doesn't have mine in sockets either

So you have only one chip and it's soldered?

Yea anyway i decided it was time for an upgrade anyway, i've purchased a p4 2.5ghz processor with 533mhz bus but need a motherboard that will run that and support pc800 rambus ram (don't really won't to have to buy new ram to) any ideas? will the D850MV from intel do the trick?

BTW.: Isn't the board covered by warranty? If you flashed official (and correct) BIOS according to their procedure, it could be a board fault.

All i can say is never buy a computer from Evesham.com, there warrenty sucks, i paid nearly 3 grand for this system a year ago and they won't cover the board cus they said it was my fault for upgrading the bios and they never told me to do it.

I had a similar problem, flashed the bios with a downloaded file, which was too small, when I re-flashed the machine crashed and bobs your uncle, new motherboard for me"!
