BIOS ROM checksum error

Hello,

I am trying to update my Flash Bios, and after reading the information in your web site I think you are the one to ask. When I turn on the PC I get this:

Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (c) 1998, Award Software 1998

BIOS ROM checksum error

Then I try the usual way, with the awdflash and one of the BIOS bin files form the QDI web site (my mobo is a Legend QDI P6I440BX/IS). Everything goes ok but when it starts writing the bios almost the whole first progress bar is completely red (which indicates error in writing I think) then the last bit of that bar and the whole second progress bar are white (which is good writing)….then it reboots and I get the same message:

Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (c) 1998, Award Software 1998

BIOS ROM checksum error

So this is an endless task…I am using the right .bin file, downloaded from the qdi web site for the BrillianX 1S…

Could you offer some help?

Thanks for your time, Daniel

Try using UniFlash to flash the BIOS http://www.pppr.sk/rainbow/programs.html#UniFlash

Thanks for the info...but I have already tried with no luck, becouse when I type UNIFLASH I go into a mennu where I cannot move around...I guess the keyboard arrows are not available in this kind of booting...

Or maybe can I make them to work?

If I use the "Uniflash -e biosfile.bin" I get a horrible beep and this message:

Flash ROM Chip: Unknown
Organization:N/A

Unknown Falsh Chip!

I used 1.17b and then the 1.28 with no luck...

Thanks for your time

Arrow keys should work in newer UniFlash versions (I wrote a keyboard handler that directly accesses keyboard port because BootBlock BIOS does not support enhanced keyboards).
Not detecting the Flash ROM - that looks like a real problem. I've heard that UniFlash can't detect Flash ROM on some i440BX and i440LX boards when running under Award BootBlock BIOS. I also saw it on a PC Chips i440LX board. I will try to solve this bug when I get Slot1-to-Socket370 adapter so I can run the i440LX board and do some testing.
