no BIOS setup menu

i was wondering if anyone could hepl me,
i have a via mini-itx c3 800 main board and when i boot it up, i get a cmos checksum error and press del to enter setup, but when i press del i get a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top, i dont know what this is all about if anyone can help??
