Processor question

I have a computer which had a massive power surge. I am wondering if the pentium 4 processor will still work. So my main question is does a processor still work after a power surge that blew the whole motherboard?

Even if bad PSU fries everything in the machine, the CPU and memory usually survive because they're not powered directly by the PSU but by a voltage regulator on the board.
