Hi all,

I've got a little problem: My last BIOS Update(AWARD) for my Epox 8KHA+ failed, so my system doesn't boot anymore.

But I thought, i could flash the BIOS again, putting a little "autoexec.bat" file on a 3,5' disc with an BIOS update on it. I tho ugth that perhaps the system would recognize the file and start it. So I put a few lines into the file which looked like that:

AWDFLASH 8KHI2904.BIN /PY /SN /E /R /CC /CP /CD

And, surprise, surprise, my 3,5 disc drive seems to recognize the disc and
tries to start the programm. But why doesn't it work then?!
Can anybody help me?

**I think that I perhaps need an "old.bin" file for this restore func,
do anybody have a restore file for an EPOX 8KHA+ ?!**

Any BIOS should work. Do you have clean DOS boot disk?

1. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but following a recent question to the board I must ask - is your AWDFLASH program actually called AWDFLASH.EXE ? and is it the right version for your BIOS ?
2. Another stupid question: are you leaving enough time for the flash to work after it finshes loading from disc ?
3. Have you tried flashing the original BIOS ? (You saved a copy, didn't you ?)

2. I wait as long as the system reads From the floppy disk(ca. 15 sec.). Further, I use the command with a /R which means that normally the system should reset after flashing. ut it doesn't!

3. I don't have a backuped BIOS file, maybe that's the problem.
I tried this procedure with an Update-BIOS! So If anybody has an old
BIOS for an epox 8KHA+, please MAIL ME!

Another question: I don't have an AMI Bios, but is it possible to change my BIOS type from AWARD to AMI allthough only the bootblock works?

You've used more switches than people generally use, and forgot the savior: /Sy

BTW, the EPOX site lists 8khi2304 as the latest update, not 8khi2904.
Could you have flashed the wrong BIOS?

After the disc access stops, you should allow two or three minutes for the actual flash operation. It doesn't finish flashing when the disc stops.

Probably not until you get to a point where you can use something like Uniflash which does not worry what the present BIOS is. If your board has the same chips you may be able to install a BIOS meant for another motherboard, but this takes some research.
