Hello All,

My first post here. Sure hope you can help...

My elderly friend really wanted a PC so bad, but can't afford to buy one. So I gave him my old trusty Everex that I had in storage, but I'm having problems getting it to boot up.

The CMOS battery had died since it was in storage for so much time.

Looks like somehow the BIOS data got erased because the PC doesn't recognize the hard drives or CD drive anymore.

Besides HD/CD drives, everything else seems to work according to a test utility called TuffTestLite. It shows the BIOS settings but can't change them from within the utility.

I can't figure out the key combo to get into the system BIOS to configure it to see the hard drives, CD drive, set date/time, etc.

Besides a keyboard input, is there any other way to get into the BIOS and modify the settings e.g. jumper setting, short a pin to ground, Utility Program, etc.?

I don't have the recovery disk or EISA Config Utility (ECU).


Everex Tech Supt says the key combo for BIOS setup should be DEL key and if it doesn't work they can't help me any further since it's such an old system.

After PC goes thru memory check, Boot up screen says:

CMOS system options not set.
EISA system not configured.

Run EISA Configuration Utility
Press F1 to resume

I've tried the following key combos at startup:

DEL
F1 - F10
ESC
INS
CTRL+ESC
CTRL+S
CTRL+ALT+ESC
CTRL+ALT+S
CTRL+ALT+INS
CTRL+ALT+ENTER
PG Up
PG Down
LMB+RMB Mouse Buttons

First put in a fresh bios battery.

Then hunt down the ECU for this thing because you will need it somewhere along the line to get it running again.

In the mean time I'll see if I can find any info at all...

just posted in the everex online forums about this. Let's see if they will bite. The driver stuff is offline. Has been for 3 years now

Thanks Edwin for coming to the rescue! That link you posted is definitely the Everex PC in question.

I was hoping Everex Tech Supt could've hooked me up with the ECU, but like you said they did a major house cleaning about 3 years ago.

all the link are pointing to an FTP-server. archive.org does not archive FTP-sites alas. There would be few other big ones I'd like to visit if they were....

Old Everex boards are OEM FIC boards.
Maybe FIC utility can work with it:

Not all of them are FIC boards, they had Intel boards too. And this one appears to be neither but a special build for everex

Would I screw things up more if I tried the FIC ECU utility and it turns out not to be an FIC MOBO? Thanks again for caring...Mark

Out of desparation I tried the FIC ECU, but it wouldn't let me configure the PC because it couldn't recognize the MOBO.

I've given up hope on the key combo to get into the BIOS.

Does anyone have a copy of or good link to the Everex ECU file? The below link is broken:
