Hey there,
To cut a long and frustrating problem short, I think I have had a hard drive problem, now I have a BIOS problem. I can not get the computer to spot any bootable Media - tried CD, floppy and hard drive. I get the message - NO BOOT DEVICE. I have gone into the BIOS and there was a list of devices in the boot sequence list. Now there are none!! There is no option to add any either.
The other odd thing is that on the initial Dell Bios boot up screen there is a line of characters - D > and a smiley repeated across the screen in one horizontal line!!!!!!!!
I have tried to take the battery out and leave it - when turned on after this the computer does an IEDI scan and picks up there is a hard drive there, but will not boot. Go back into BIOS and there is no options in the boot sequence list still.

Am I knackered?????

I would appreciate any help!!!!!!!

Thanks

Ben

Sounds like a corrupt BIOS

Have you tried disconnecting HD and CD except the FD to try a possible reflash if the latter is successfully accessed?
