Kernel Panic when RH Linux8.0 Shutdowns

Hello Pals,
I've a pc-chips motherboard with the following bios specification:
63-0418-001437-00101111-071595-WHITNEY-M766-V1.0-8712-H
Release Date:04/18/2000 S
AMI BIOS
When i try to restart or shutdown the kernel got a crash, and the log shows that its a kernel panic if i try to upgrade the kernel version it solves the problem but i cant coz i want the same version of kernel came with the RH Linux 8.0. It is clearly due to bios power option, A bios upgrade can solve it. I need a upgrade for this bios version.
Thanks
faisal.
