PC100 SDRAM-problem

Hi there,

First my BIOS-info:

Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
01/18/99
01/18/1999-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KF09C-00
Version : MI410
Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3

I use PC100 SDRAM and currently have 2 128 mb blocks - one double sided, one single sided.
I then try to install a 256 mb. block, also PC100 RAM. At first everything works just fine - but suddenly while running windows the system crashes. When I reboot the system won't recognize my new block. I restart once more and only 128 mb of the 256 block are recognized.
I take out the two 128 meg blocks and have only the 256 in the system - all 256 megs are recognized.
Could a BIOS update solve this problem?

A lot of boards have 3 DIMM slots but don't really have the drive capability to use 3 modules reliably. If your BIOS allows you to change the RAM timing, you could try slowing it down.

Get GoldMemory http://www.goldmemory.cz and test each DIMM separately. Some of them might be bad.
