BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 11/19/97-i440LX-SMC67x-2A69JSWAC-00
BIOS Eval: P6ALXA Ver:C
Chipset: Intel 440LX

hello,
i've got a 512MB memory but , it 's only recognised as a 128mb on the board
i've seen in the manual that the max total memory is 512mb and only 128mb by slot... :?
is it possible to bypass this limitation ?
thanks a lot

The 512MB chip will never be fully recognized. The LX chipset, IIRC, support a max 64 Mbit memory density.

It supports 128MBit memory density
256MByte : double sided stick with 16 memory chips and 16x8 internal organisation
128MByte : single sided stick with 8 chips and 16x8 or double sided with 16 chips

Damn, the website lied to me. :?

In this case, though, he may be limited to 128MB sticks. According to Intel, the 440LX supports a total of 512MB; since this board has 4 slots, he could really be limited to 128MB in each slot.

No problem using 256MByte sticks on i430TX or i440 chipset series from Intel unless you use the special sticks i mentioned

The 512MB stick reading as 128MB might be a DS with 16 chips but wrong internal organisation thus capacity is quartered
