Underclocking?

Can I downgrade my FSB to match my lower speed memmory? Do I need to? How do I do the required calculations?

My motherboard manufacturer has informed me that my constant unprompted system reboots are due to the fact that I have PC2100 memory running with an XP2500 with 333FSB (on an ASROCK K7s8x motherboard with 746fx chipset).

Several resellers have attempted to convice me I need a new motherboard. Others have told me (including Kensington who made the memmory) that this is a common problem if FSB and memmory speed don't match.

Who is right? The bios utilities seem very adaptable, so I'm wondering why I can't just set the FSB to 266 to match the memmory and call it a day, but I don't know how. Also, if everyone else out there is OVERclocking, how is it that their systems don't reboot all the time?

Sorry for the long post but I'm at my wit's end and don't want to buy more components that don't match. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It shoud be possible tu run FSB166MHz and memory on 133MHz but with slower memory timings it might work on 166/166
Reducing all to 133/133 is possible but you'll lost a lot of CPU MHz

Get new DDR-333/PC-2700 or faster memory and sell your older DDR on Ebay or similar auctions
