Help! My motherboard needs it's bios updated because it won't recognise my new hard drive. (Or so I'm told!) Unfortunatly I have no idea what the board is but it comes up with the following when it boots:

i440BX-W977EF-2A69KQ19C-00

Can anyone help me identify and tell me where to get a flash for the bios?

Please!!

Thanks in advance.

That's old BIOS - you need the beta for large HDDs http://www.qdigrp.com/qdisite/driver/Te ... U(128).zip

Thanks a lot, but err, help!

Thanks a LOT. I downloaded the zip and extracted the files onto a floppy drive, rebooted from a boot-floppy and ran the exe file. But it then asked me what file I wanted to open. Am I going about this all wrong or what do I tell it?

Sorry to be so clueless! Your help is much appreicted.
Thanks.

You should enter the name of BIN file that was inside the ZIP.

Thanks, I did so. It then asked me the name of the file to save the original at so I made up a name which it seemed happy with, and went ahead. However it ended with an error message saying
unknown flash type
and returned to the dos prompt. :(

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Try another version of Awdflash or UniFlash.

P.S. Be careful, this board has PLCC chip soldered :x

Thanks Rainbow.
I'll go and find another version and try that. I don't know what you mean when you say my board has a PLCC chip soldered but if it doesn't work I'll just cough up buy a new motherboard. (I'm not far off that already!) :)

Hmm, can't see the option in the BIOS/CMOS menu, can't see a jumper mentioned in the manual. http://www.qdigrp.com/qdisite/eng/suppo ... aq0113.htmsays
Q When upgrading my bios, the system prompts 'Unknown Flash Type', why?
A This is because the bios protection QDI set in the mainboards. Normally, bios is prevented by the jumper 'JAV' and the bios setting 'flash write protect' from unintentional bios write. Therefore, before bios upgrading, locate the jumper and the bios setting and disable the protection.
so look for a jumper "JAV".

I have one BrillianX I here and there are no jumpers except for Clear CMOS. This board has SST 29EE020 PLCC chip. I flashed using UniFlash without any problems.
