This looks like a great place to answer my questions so here goes!

I can't find an ID on my motherboard but I was able to find out the BIOS string as above. Also found out the additional info below:

Chipset: SiS 5591 rev 2
Superio: ITE8661/SiS 6801 rev 2 found at port 279h

After many, many, many hours of trial and error, I was able to get one of my hard disks and one of my CD-ROM drives to work. For some reason I can't get it to recognize my CD-RW drive or my larger hard disk drive. I'm wondering if I flash my BIOS will it recognize my other two components? I've visited many websites but I'm not sure which file to download in order to try and update my BIOS. Any help will be appreciated.

Also, there are so many variables in the setup menus, can anyone tell me where I can find a manual that describes each option? I have both IDE channels enabled right now thinking that would allow me two CD drives and two hard disk drives.

Believe it or not, this will end up being an upgrade for me . . . I was working with a 133MHz CPU in an old Dell motherboard and now I have this one with a AMD K6-III 500MHz CPU. Like someone else posted here, we have to live with what we got (even though I dream of that mega-up-to-date system).

All replies will be appreciated.

Looks like a PC Chips M570. To be sure, identify it at PC Chips Lottery http://go.to/th2 in the DON'T KNOW section (left).
