Hi,

Could someone help me identify my motherboard and suggest a bios upgrade? I am using windows 2000 and the CMOS is unstable at the moment.

I thought that it was a Mitac motherboard, but I sent the info from Bios agent to them and they just said that they couldn't use the information I'd supplied to help! :x

Here is the info:

Bios Type: Award Modular Bios v6.00PG
Bios ID: 05/10/1999-i440BX-SMC602-6A69KM3JC
OEM sign-on: 6110.R400

(the agent says the chipset is intel 440BX/ZX rev 3)

Thanks for your help,

Sam

MiTAC 6110ZU/VA

The latest I could find is version V803 (you have V400).

11/24/1999-i440BX-SMC602-6A69KM3JC-00
6110.R803

http://www.mitacservice.com/visitor/fca ... d=23780441

Their site mentions V804 though, but it isn't linked in any way.

[EDIT]

Wait, I did manage to find it:

http://www.mitacservice.com/visitor/fca ... d=23792467

12/09/1999-i440BX-SMC602-6A69KM3JC-00
6110.R804

You'll have to download V803, too, to use the included flasher. The V804 download is just the BIOS file.

Or simply download the flasher from:
http://www.mitacservice.com/visitor/fca ... d=29649946

Note: I've checked both BIOSes, and neither supports HDDs greater than 32GB.

Thank you!

Please tell us if everything works out correctly. Please make sure you backup your current BIOS before flashing the new version.

Everything OK

Hi,

I backed up the old Bios (R400) then flashed the new version (R804). Everything seems fine now, the computer still boots, and the CMOS seems save the date and time at last! I don't know why Mitac customer services were incapable of recognising one of their own products from the same information. Thanks again for your help :D

If you need large HDD support (>32GB), just give us a holler... :-)

hard drive support

Now you come to mention it, I was going to upgrade to a larger hard-drive soon. I was going to buy a new hard drive for my computer and transfer the 40 Gb drive into this one (which is actually my girlfriend's computer). Do you know if it is possible to get this motherboard to see a 40Gb drive? Thanks again,

Thank you, I'll hold off applying the patched version until I need to add the large drive support, but I'll download a copy of it now. Thanks once again for all your help,

Sorry for the length of time I've taken to get back on this one. I've tested the patched bios version R804-64 on my Mitac 6110Zu/Va motherboard. I am using a 40Gb Seagate hard disk and it seems to be recognised OK by the system. I will post again if I come across any problems. Many thanks,

Sam
