Nan Tan 486-33 laptop, FCC-ID FMA8200. Award BIOS but no ID string, too old. Can't find anything relevant on the web, Evoke don't list anything that looks like "8200". I'll start ripping it apart to fix the FDD and the power socket and to see what else can be done (more RAM than 4MB?) but any pointers to info gratefully received.

My bad memory from last night. I remembered the "evo", at least I didn't suggest "Mitsubishi".

I saw nothing on the Clevo website last night relating to "8200". Any suggestion for model ID welcome.

Found something. Clevo was formerly KAPOK.
After searching archive.org copies of the KAPOK.COM.TW site, I found reference to the KAPOK 8200 and found your 486.
I found several AWARD BIOS releases for it, depending on whether you have the TFT, STN or Mono display, in archive.org as well.

In fact, our site has reference to it:

IIRC, I had Kapok 9200 (relabelled as Tesco TN4) for repair. It didn't work at all (except for the power LED). There was a blown fuse and jumper fallen of one of the pins. There was also AMD 486DX4/100 CPU installed but the jumpers were not configured properly so it was terribly slow (http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopi ... apok#17319). Fixed that by replacing the CPU with i486DX2/66.

There are a lot of dead links on the later archived Kapok sites but they seems to list the 8200 with some of the 9XX machines rather than with the 8XXX which all seem to be 85xx. 9xx are listed at Clevo... no manual....a PCMCIA driver may allow me to put a LAN card in it.

Did you manage to download the BIOSes? I did. Some are of mid 1995 and 1996.
