I have a Packard Bell Platinum 2250x. BIOS 1.00.09 (AMI) thats it, no other extentions. I looked at the Flash chip

The sticker has these numbers on it (Sticker on Flash bios chip)

1.00.09

The motherboard stickers are as follows (Bar code stickers on component side of MB)

1st one; PSOR72203721
2nd 181678-03 PB-SMT

I've tried all the BIOS identify programs with no luck. I've found 1.00.09.xxx BIOS flashes but not sure wether I should use them. I'm trying to use USB components and I have no USB listed on my device manager and read that I most likely need a new BIOS flash. I looked for a BIOS Flash before but gave up, since my Comp is worth $40 and not much effort. If any guru can help me out it would be greatly apriciated. I'm positive the Flash is out there somewhere, but its beyond my grasp. I've tried to contact both Packard Bell and Intel, but neither would give me support.

Try Aida32/Everest

Sounds like an Intel OEM-Board and Aida32/Everest may know it .
Or press Pause/Break and note the Bios-Identifier code visible at computer start
1.00.09.xx or xxx is important

Like I said there are no other numbers/extensions to 1.00.09 <--thats it
I have tried all the bios finder programs and eveything else suggested on this site and others. I understand that there should be more I.E 1.00.09.xxxx but theres not. even the sticker on the chip has nothing more.
I have found a "platinumbios" update but it says it updates to 1.00.07.cpor which doest seem right.

I'll try "everest" although I have no idea what it does
I think I may have a PB 640 motherBoard but I'm not certian. I came up with that from a model # search.

You have to note the Bios-ID just before your system is booting if Aida32 or Everest are not able to decypher the ID-number

Found it. I looked through the UK packard bell site and found I have a Intel 685 "Orlando MMX" motherboard.
BIOS is 1.00.09.DNOR
I was told this is the latest Bios, yet its almost 10 years old.
My major problem is I have USB ports, and I'm triying to use a Digital Camera. I installed all the drivers VIA disk, yet no luck.

I checked the device manager and theres no USB or controller listed. I have no Idea how to install USB, Controlers, or whatever.

Thank you Denniss, that Everest program is very good. This is probably the wrong place to find USB help, so sorry for asking here.

Which VIA Controller? Some of those were problematic.
