Motherboard ID and audio problem

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP Professional and I have a problem with sound. I can play dvd movies or cds but without any sound coming out. When I did a check on the net, a few solutions were offered and one of them was to check the manufacturer of my motherboard. I did using a tool called "everesthome" which did a great job of identifying most of my system hardware including the motherboard bios string but no manufacturer name. The bios string is: 63-0100-000001-00101111-101303-i845$1ABHI010 and there seems to be a additional _BIOS at the end and Version 08. Having checked the list on this site I could not locate the manufacturer of the motherboard!

Please help!

I think you have a Gericom laptop, isn't it?

Can be 63-0100-000001-00101111-101303-i845-1ABHI016 instead?

Gericom notebook Hummer series uses that string.

Thanks for your reply KURIAKI. Actually the notebook is a Mecer manufactured by Mustek Corpororation trading as Mecer here is S. Africa. Unfortunately their website does not offer much on drivers or BIOS updates for their products. I am having a problem getting through to their technical department. But will continue trying.
