@ kuriaki:
Thnx for the reply. Based on the pic that you have posted, comparing that to the mboard I have right now, its almost the same "except" that my mboard doesn't have that "brown color slot" located in between the processor and the 4 L2 chips. Any reactions? Thnx

COAST (Cache On A STick) module slot. It means you may already have the maximum cache amount on-board.

At Kuriaki and Edwin:
Thnx for the reply. Yes, I forgot the name of the old cache slot. Anyway, can I go on upgrading the BIOS based on Kuriaki's suggested links? I assumed my mboard is UTRON. Needs enlightenment.
Also, when I run benchmark software, it says there's no "L2 cache". I can notice also that the speed is very slow. Processor is always grinding hard. I come to believe its true even if I thoroughly checked it has a 256K or 512K switch. Also BIOS internal and external cache are all Enabled.

Either a Bios problem (or the motherboard is really so slow) or you have a version with fake cache.

update:
I flashed the bios using the link given above. Flashing is successful but during restart, its a no go. So, I have to reflash it back to my saved backup rom file. Will post soon

MAybe you need a different Bios, the board came with at least three I/O chips (thats the chip located on top of the PCI slots. Two ALI chips and one UMC chip are listed for the M558
Does the image fit your board ? 3ISA, 4PCI, 4EDO, no Sound OnBoard ?
Maybe you need to check the Pcchips Lottery:

@ Denniss:
The I/O is SMC chip number MC1665IR. It has 3 ISA/4 PCI/4 SIMM slots /No on-board audio/VX Pro II chipsets / X3.0 multiplier max / 50-55-60-66-75 MHz FSB
@ Ritchie:
OK. Will post pic ASAP.

@"no L2 cache" -
This could mean that there is no "CPU-based" L2 cache...not that there isn't a "motherboard-based" external L2 cache.
Which benchmark software said this?
