Hi, this is my first post so I will try and be as informative as possible.I have an old Gigabyte Mainboard GA-71XEH, it's still going strong, but I want to replace my CD Rom with a CD/RW. I have Win 98SE.The Gigabyte website says Mainbord will support a CD Rom bootable, does this mean it will recognise a CD/RW drive.I have been into the BIOS and can't find a CD/RW mentioned only the CD Rom.Thanks in advance.

Set for autodetect and you'll be fine.

Don't forget to install burning software if not running XP.

First BIOS screen (STANDARD CMOS SETUP) where you set the time, etc...

Set the Master/Slave TYPE and MODE to AUTO/AUTO for all. To speed up the boot process though, you can turn off the ones you know you don't have devices on.

Some devices require the setting to be NONE per the manufacturer...like for an Internal ZIP drive. Set what the manufacturer recommends in the setup instructions.
