Hi! I am a newbie learning how to hot flash bios chips.
Have just successfully hot flash an updated bios for my PCCHIPS M520 (VX) using UNIFLASH leaving the original as backup. Quite happy with the result.

Thanks to the Gurus of UNIFLASH!

Now I intend to try to hot flash some bios chips on dead mobos to try to revive them.
I need help to get the correct chiplist id of the following 5 chips:

ROCK 29F010-15
ASD AE 29F1008-15
29C010D
HT M22025
HT M36580

Cannot find the exact match in UNIFLASH's chiplist file.

Thanks.

Regards,

chang

Try it and you will see. The ROCK and ASD will be most probably identified as Winbond W29x010, the H.T. chips as Macronix MX28F1000P. Please report all so I can add them to docs.

1st report/

Tried to flash the ASD AE29F1008-15 using UNIFLASH 1.29.

I did a

A>uniflash -e xxxxxxxx.rom

without using the -force command it to see what would be the result.

Was surprised that UNIFLASH proceeded to detect the chip straight away as W29x010 and started to write!

So Rainbow was right!

First 2 write were unsuccessful so I push the chip in tighter and the 3rd write was ok!

That is the good news!

The bad news is that the board I was trying to revive is really dead! :(

Bye for now.

chang

The HT 22025 is detected by UNIFLASH as MACRONIX MX 28F1000T/12V and the HT36580 as 28F010/12V.

Also acquired a strange chip, marking as follows:

M506/7 9-1
CN007
549C5C73AQI

Cannot be identified by UNIFLASH even at 12volt.
Anyone seem this kind of marking before?

M506/7 usually is an EPROM use on M506 and M507 boars - not flashable

Have your tried Awardflash on the H.T. chips ?
Awardflash is usually able to identify them as 28F1000PPC or 28F1000AP

Thank you for the info Mr. Denniss. Use awdflash sometimes but playing mainly with UNIFLASH now to gain as much knowledge first before learning other flash s/ware.

Yes! Rainbow was correct!
The ROCK and ASD were identified as Winbond W29x010.

The 29C010D also.
