Hello

I´ve got a am29f040b-90jc plcc32 chip and I want to hotflash it but it just wont do. The motherboard is an nforce2 from asus. uniflash 1.32 says the chip is unknown. I tried to force the chip ID but it can´t be flashed.

Does anybody know the base address of am29f040b-90jc?

I´ve tried to flash the same chip on an opti viper 82c557m chipset, but I can´t flash it. the motherboard is from IBM and uniflash do recognize the chip but I just get flash errors. Does anybody know why? The size of the onboard bios chip is 128kb, but the size of the AMD chip I want to flash is 512kb.

I just want to add that uniflash recognize the nforce2 chipset and I´ve been able to flash it with an sst49lf020 chip.

Many thanks in advance.

It will not work on the Asus board because this board uses different pinout (mkost probably LPC), the Am29F040 is standard Flash ROM.
The old IBM board supports 128KB chips only.

Thanks for the reply

Would it work on an nforce1 motherboard from MSI?

Would it be possible til split the 512kb file into 4 128kb file and then flash it from the ibm board?

It might work somehow on the IBM board, provided that you set the two topmost address pins (A18 and A17) manually (connect to 5V or GND) before flashing each 128KB part.
