Thanks! It works.

But what flash should I use when I want to restore to the old bios. It doesn't work with the new flash.

How should I now what bios I should download for one bios on my computer? It would have been very difficult without your help

Restore your old BIOS? Well simple use the same flasher to flash the backup copy of your original BIOS which you surely saved during the flash procedure.

Please give us your FULL Bios-ID and not only parts of it !!!

Especially the Bios-Eval or Bios OEM message is missing - needed to determine which Bios version you have installed

With FIC you have to pay attention to the PCB/Boar revision as FIC often has two (or more) different PCB with it's own Bios

The new BIOS, mi415.bin from dir socket 1, I have installed is:

BIOS type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS date: 12/13/99
BIOS ID: 12/13/1999-i440BX-W977EF-2A69KF09C-00
OEM sign on: Version MI415
Super I/O: Unknown
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1

The old bios can't I tell more than above. This new BIOS works for me yet.

I have seen that the BIOS I have installed are on different dir. I suppose it is the same file. I'm not really sure about that.

Latest MI-series Bios is 4118 from here :
ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/bios/slot1/vb-601
ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/bios/s ... MI4118.ZIP

MC-series and ME-series Bios is for older PCB/Rev with different I/O chip

A lot more Biosversion are here but nothing seems to be newer than 4118 : ftp://ftp.fica.com/BIOS/motherboards/slot1/VB601/award

Do you think it would work on my computer? Or is it anyone there, which work on my computer?

I need to have support for my 100 GB HD.

You need a Bios designed to run on your specific mainboard not a board designed to run on a board with a chipset you have .

Please try the MI4118 Bios !!
It's a late 2000 release and should support bigger HDD

Now I have installed mi4118.bin and it seems to work fine.

I wonder if I do clear CMOS or take away the battery for the CMOS, is everything away from the old bios, which was installed?

Many thanks for all the help I get from you all!

Clearing CMOS is advised because a new version of BIOS can add new set-up parameters or change where set-up parameters are stored. If the new BIOS uses the parameters from wrong locations, strange things may happen.

If you have flashed the BIOS and it is working, it is probably best still to clear the CMOS or "restore setup defaults", and to allow configuration reset/ESCD data update/DMI update, whatever your BIOS calls it. I guess it would have been good to note your CMOS settings before flashing.
