MS-5119 - How to disable writeprotection ?

Hi,

i´ve got a MS-5119 and tried to flash it with the custom ROM from Rainbow-Soft ( usually for MS-5120 ).

I get the following message from Uniflash :
  • ( FFFF,FFFF) Flash ROM chip : UNKNOWN
    Organisation : N/A ( Is write protect disabled ? )
PCI chipset : Intel Triton 430 FX
Last write status : not available
I only have an imcomplete manual, downloaded from the web.
I can´t find any jumper to disable write protection.
There is also no option in the BIOS to this.

So any help is welcome.

Is the BIOS chip flashable? What's printed on it?

It´s a Winbond W27F010-15.

Sorry - it's an EPROM

Not flashable and programmable only if it has a window

It's not exactly an EPROM, but it's not flashable. It can be erased and programmed in an external programmer.

Hi,

thank you all.

Is the MS5119 in generell capable of flashing ?
I have an Atmel 29C512 here - will it do ?

29C512 is too small (64KB). You need 128KB chip (Winbond W29EE011, SST 29EE010, Atmel AT29C010...)
