BIOS Updates forum

Hi,

I'm having trouble with a laptop from spectec.

It's a ACY13 laptop with a compal chipset (82845MP Brookdale)

When I startup i get an fatal error # M1004.

After a long search I think i only have 2 options
1. Flash BIOS
2. Replace main bord

Of course I want to try the firs one first.

I've tried to use the phlash.exe that is on the support cd that comes
with the pc, but it gives me the following error: "Open failed on BIOS ROM image file"

Can anybody help please?

Maybe with a new phlash.exe (phoenixphlash utility 4.0 release 1.93)

This is probably caused by overheating. Clean the cooling system, make sure that there is thermal grease between the CPU and its heatsink and that the fan is working.
