I just put in a Kingston 512MB DDR 400 RAM chip in my eMachines computer to accompany the 256MB one I already had, 'cause it was slow. I went to Buest Buy and asked the Geek Squad and they gave me that chip, and whenever I use a large program, such as editing software or an online game, after a while, the computer crash-restarts suddenly and gives me this page here: http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/Resp ... a9719ecb8b

I think this is my motherboard...

What I know about the hardware so far is.....

BIOS TYPE: Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG
BIOS DATE: 04/26/02
BIOS ID: 04/26/2002-i845GL-LPC47M-6A69VF0IC-00
OEM Sign-On: Version IEK41
Super I/O: Unknown
Chipset: Intel 2560 rev 1
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2
ACPI: 1.0
CPU Type: Intel Celeron(R)
Speed: 1700 Mhz
Max Speed: 2400 Mhz
BIOS ROM In-Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K
Memory Installed: 768 MB
Memory Maximum: 2048 MB

And from Intel chipset Identification it says...

Detected Chipset: Intel(R) 845G chipset family
Memory Controller: 82845G/GE/GL/GV
I/O Controller: 82801DB (ICH4)
Integrated Graphics: Intel(R) 82845G graphics controller

So, can anybody help me?

Check to see if your board is indeed marked VC37. If so it also should be marked PCB ver 1.2 or 1.3 or 2.0 and depending on that number you can use one of the bioses on the downloads page from the emachine-upgraders page for your board.

I started the test thing... and it's been running for the past 8 and a half hours. I'm using my mom's computer at the moment. Does that thing end, or... what?

And as for the motherboard, how do I check which version it is?

EDIT: I stopped the test at 10hrs 40min and this is what I was shown.

Test 0: 0
Test 1: 1
Test 2: 0
Test 3: 2
Test 4: 21
Test 5: 0
Test 6: 89
Test 7: 0
Test 8: 0
Test 9: 0

looks like one of your RAMs is faulty. remove one of the modules and run the test again.

Either that, or the timings are too aggressive.
