BIOS Flash Protection

Is it possible to disable BIOS flashing like BIOS Guardian without using a hardware jumper? I would like to see an option ROM that required a password during POST that would enable BIOS flashing. I know that there are low level debugging programs that load before the OS and allow step execution, so would it be possible to monitor for and block instructions associated with BIOS flashing? Any ideas or thoughts whether this is even possible, and how it might be accomplished?

sure it's poss. but then its also poss to disable that very disabling-software. you can trap io-port access and stuff, but you can also revert that trap softwarily.

a jumper, is a safe, practical and cheap solution to keep virii from puttin 'emselves into flash-eprom. password protection will always be weak if it's not to cost a lot of money. i wish my MSI mainboard had a jumper for flash-protection ...
