Processor BIOS communication

Hi,
Can anyone tell me, how the processor communicates with the BIOS. When the BIOS is shadowed the BIOS code flows through the memory, however the processor is capable of reading the BIOS directly without shadowing, how is this accomplished, does the processor have pins/wires connecting it to the BIOS? To summarize my question, how can the processor directly read the BIOS without shadowing
Thanks in advance
