cpu compatibility

hello .i'm new here the qustion is :
i have an IBM thinkPad 600E 300Mhz cpu/224 Ram
i want to change the cpu . i have 500mhz Cpu but if i install it i get so much problems .can i use the Pentuim 2 450Mhz without problems?
